Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital Announced as Main Sponsor of Thembisa Mile
Thembisa, South Africa – February 2025 – Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital is proud to announce its role as the main sponsor of the Thembisa Mile, set to take place on Sunday, 26 October 2025, at Olifantsfontein Sports Ground. As the only private hospital located in Thembisa, Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital has a longstanding commitment to supporting the Thembisa Mile, a premier road running event featuring both 1 Mile and 10km races.
“Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital has been an integral healthcare partner since 2017, and we are deeply grateful for their continuous support throughout the years,” said Donald Mathipa, Founder of the Thembisa Mile. “With Lenmed Zamokuhle now joining us as a Tier 1 sponsor, this partnership will provide a significant boost as we work to establish the Thembisa Mile as the premier road running event in our township.”
Mahlatse Mathebula, Manager of Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital, expressed his enthusiasm about the hospital’s expanded role in this year’s event. “Last year, I jokingly said that if they weren’t careful, we might take over as the anchor sponsor. I am excited to confirm that we have officially agreed to be the anchor sponsor starting this year. We look forward to a fruitful partnership and hope to make an even bigger impact as we continue to serve the community,” said Mathebula.
As in previous years, proceeds from the 2025 Thembisa Mile will go towards supporting the Thembisa Athletic Club’s annual December training camp. This camp is instrumental in preparing 68 junior, youth, and sub-youth athletes for the upcoming competitive season.
Karabo Mabilo, Acting President of Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA), attended the announcement to offer the federation’s support, praising both the Thembisa Mile and the Thembisa Athletic Club for their ongoing efforts to develop future champions through CGA’s cross-country and track and field leagues. Mabilo emphasized that this new partnership with Lenmed Zamokuhle comes at a perfect time. Following a sold-out event with 3,000 participants in 2024, organizers have now expanded the event to accommodate 4,000 runners and walkers in 2025. Entries will open in July.
The Thembisa Mile remains a key event in the region’s sporting calendar, not only bringing together competitive athletes but also promoting health and wellness across the community.
